Nestled in Northwest Edmonton's established district, Wellington’s history dates back to its annexation by the city in 1913. Despite its early origins, the neighbourhood remained largely undeveloped until the 1950s, when it underwent subdivision, paving the way for continued expansion over the next few decades. Bordered by 142nd Street to the west, 137th Ave to the north, 127th Street to the east, and 132nd Ave to the south, Wellington takes its name from Arthur Wellesley (1769-1852), the first Duke of Wellington. Renowned for leading the British forces to victory over Napoleon at the Battle of Waterloo.
