Hudson is a newer addition to Northwest Edmonton, established during the 1990s. Located within the Palisades Area Structure Plan, the community is bordered by 140th Street to the west,  Cumberland Road to the north, 127 Street to the east and Cumberland Road to the north, and 137th Ave to the south. Like all communities comprising the larger Palisades district, Hudson takes its name from a famous fort or post - in this case, the historic Hudson's Bay Company (HBC) post, Hudson House. Hudson House was established in 1779 and located 40 kilometers west of Prince Albert, Saskatchewan.
