Northeast Edmonton Real Estate:
Community of Fraser

Situated between 144th and 153rd Avenue, and extending west from 18th Street to Victoria Trail, Fraser is located near the shore of the North Saskatchewan River Valley in Northeast Edmonton. Annexed to the City of Edmonton in 1961, Fraser emerged as one of the key neighbourhoods outlined in the Clareview Outline Plan, approved by the City Council in May 1972. The community’s development unfolded gradually over the years, with the western half rapidly evolving during the 1970s and 1980s, while the eastern half saw a more measured pace, with some residential land parcels still awaiting development. Fraser's name pays homage to John Fraser (1840-1919), born at Jasper House and an original homesteader of River Lot 28. Notable for his dedication to education, Mr. Fraser was instrumental in the establishment of Belmont School, one of the province's earliest educational institutions.
