Britannia Youngstown represents a historic and well-established neighbourhood in mature Northwest Edmonton, boasting a rich heritage that dates back to the early 1900s. Initially, Britannia and Youngstown existed as distinct subdivisions within the Town of Jasper Place, with Britannia's establishment occurring around 1912 followed by Youngstown's development in the 1950s. Britannia Youngstown, along with several other Jasper Place communities, integrated with the City of Edmonton in 1964.
